GSR Auditions

Are you a handbell ringer with the talent, ambition, and commitment to join New Hampshire’s only elite ringing ensemble?

GSR holds auditions every summer and occasionally between our winter and spring seasons. 

Auditions are run by the Music Director and assistants and consist of four main sections:

  1. A written questionnaire (audition application) covering personal background and basic handbell information. ​

  2. Rhythm exercises.

  3. Ensemble ringing: auditioning ringers will ring with current GSR members, working on a variety of musical selections from our upcoming season.  The audition rubric covers proper form and technique, rhythm, sight-reading, and the ability to recover and take direction.

  4. A conversation with the Music Director and assistants about the group's expectations.

Successful applicants will be required to commit to the choir for one full year, including regular bi-monthly rehearsals (Sundays from 2:30 to 5:30 pm) and all concert appearances.
